Writes the guides on Furniture Deals: sizes checked against the listings, prices and ratings read from Amazon India.
A study table has two measurements that matter and one that people buy by. The two that matter: height, 29 to 30 inches (74 to 76 cm), which is right for an adult on a standard chair, and depth, at least 24 inches, so a laptop and an open book fit without one pushing the other off. The one people buy by, width, only decides how much mess fits.

A child should not use a 30-inch table before about age twelve: elbows end up at shoulder height. Buy a smaller table, or a height-adjustable one, and move up.
Study table with drawers
One shallow drawer under the top for pens and cables, one deep drawer at the side for files. A drawer under the top takes 3 inches off the knee space, so check the clearance: at least 24 inches from the floor to the underside of the drawer. Two drawers on one side is the common wooden design; a pedestal of three drawers makes the table a desk.
Study table with storage
Storage means shelves: a hutch on top for books, or a shelf unit at the side. A hutch is the better buy in a small room because it uses wall height instead of floor; make sure the top shelf is reachable from the chair. The “study table with bookshelf” listings on Amazon are this type.
What to check in the listing
Knee space: width at least 20 inches, height at least 24 inches under any drawer.
Top thickness: 18 mm engineered board or 25 mm solid wood. A 12 mm top bows under a monitor.
Cable hole, if a monitor or lamp will live on it.
Weight: a solid sheesham 48-inch table is 25 to 35 kg; an engineered one half that.
Assembly: most arrive flat; the listing says whether a carpenter visit is included.
